  3. Of all the areas concerned with memory, the most difficult category to
  4. remember is, without doubt, numbers.
  5.  
  6. Numbers are completely %abstract\ and %intangible\ - they cannot be pictured
  7. in the mind.  They are also some of the most important things that people
  8. have to remember - telephone numbers, PIN numbers, addresses, credit card
  9. numbers, prices, bank account numbers, statistics, dates - the list goes on
  10. and on.

  12. Fortunately, the chore of remembering numbers can be made easy by learning a
  13. simple >Phonetic Alphabet\, which substitutes letters for numbers.  Using
  14. this system, numbers can be transposed to letters and then words, which can
  15. be pictured, and therefore memorised.

  17. Tutorial 8 explains the rules of the Phonetic Alphabet, and how digits can
  18. be transposed into letters.  Tutorial 9 shows how a string of digits can be
  19. transposed into words.  Finally, Tutorial 10 demonstrates how |any\ long -
  20. digit number can easily be memorised, by combining the rules of the Phonetic
  21. Alphabet with two of the memory systems you have already learned - the Link
